BAKER, La. — In a decisive vote, Mayor Darnell Waites of Baker has been re-elected to lead the Capital Region Planning Commission (CRPC) for a second term. The CRPC, tasked with strategic planning for critical aspects of the region including transportation and drainage, stands to benefit from Waites' continued leadership.
Waites' re-election comes as a result of a majority vote by commissioners representing Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Iberville, Livingston, and West Baton Rouge Parishes. As chairman, Waites will preside over CRPC meetings and spearhead initiatives aimed at advancing regional development objectives.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve, Waites stated, "I am honored to continue serving as Chairman of CRPC. I remain committed to collaborating with fellow board members and staff to ensure efficient allocation of taxpayer funds and address the evolving needs of our Metro Area."
Under Waites' leadership, the CRPC is poised to navigate the complexities of regional planning and effectively address the challenges and opportunities facing the Capital Region.
