The Southern University Law Center (Law Center), in partnership with Louisiana Appleseed and Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS), will host an heirship education and intake seminar on Saturday, November 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Jewel J. Newman Community Center located at 2013 Central Road, Baton Rouge, LA.
During the seminar, participants will learn more about succession and wills through an educational seminar presented by Louisiana Appleseed. Following, supervising attorneys will conduct succession and will intake sessions. The succession intake is limited to 30 people. Criteria for the potential SULC successions clients are north Baton Rouge resident or has property in North Baton Rouge and no income restrictions. The criteria for SLLS are Louisiana resident and income restrictions set by the organization, which can be found on their website. This seminar is a part of the recent Heirs Property Initiative set in motion by the Law Center to raise awareness and assist community residents with successions. This event was funded by a grant from the Huey and Angelina Wilson Foundation.
