STATEMENT OF POLICY
In response to the threat of COVID-19 and the impact it has on the citizens of the City of Baker, Darnell Waites, Mayor of the City of Baker declared a Public Health Emergency for the City of Baker effective March 16, 2020.
Therefore, as a courtesy to the Citizens of Baker, under the direction of Mayor Waites, the Utility Billing Department has temporarily suspended the City’s ordinance governing the disconnection of water services for non-payment of bill.
This policy is temporary. It may be extended beyond June 13, 2020, as directed by the Mayor.
APPLICABILITY
This policy shall apply to all residents and business owners receiving Water services from the City of Baker.
PROCEDURE
1) Bills shall be issued/mailed as normal procedure with applicable due dates.
2) Applicable late fee shall be added to bills that are not paid timely.
3) Accounts that are not paid in full timely during this designated period of time shall not be disconnected, but they will remain on and active until the Health Emergency is lifted or as directed by the Mayor, after which the remaining owed bill(s) due, along with the late fee(s) shall become payable to the City of Baker and collectible according to and as required by Baker City Ordinances.
